  • Where/When: 6:30 p.m. Sat, Aug 13 at Point Defiance Park.
  • Why Go: The first ever Goldfish Gallop 5-K Run will be held this Saturday. Runners ages 21 and older will enjoy a refreshing evening run through the park followed by refreshing frosty beverages at the Goldfish Tavern. The finish line fun includes discounts on food and beverages, special prizes, a fish-face contest and more.
  • Cost: $15 per person. All proceeds benefit the Greater Metro Parks Foundation.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday at Frontier Park in Graham.
  • Why Go: Join Pierce County for this yearly celebration of rural life, agriculture and good old family values. Sit back and enjoy a wide selection of tasty fair foods while taking in all the the fair has to offer. Entertainment will include live country music acts, kids pedal tractor pull contests (4 time daily), Toddler Games Driving School, and many other games and contests.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $5, children under 5 get in free. Parking is $5.

 

  • Where/When: 2-4:30 p.m. Sat, Aug 13 at the Wine Bank.
  • Why Go: Corvus Cellars, one of the hottest new wineries in Washington is coming to the Wine Bank this Saturday. Winemaker Steve Lessard and Winegrower Randall Hopkins will be on site pouring four of Corvus Cellar's current releases, including the award winning Cabernet Sauvignon. This new exciting winery currently only produces 1200 cases, so this is a tasting you won't want to miss.
  • Cost: No tasting fee.

 

  • Where/When: 12 p.m. Sun Aug 14 at Cheney Stadium.
  • Why Go: Exactly half a year away from Valentine's Day, this day is for the guys. Come out and celebrate beer, BBQ, bands and baseball at St. Meatentine's Day. After the game, the featured bands will include The Crying Spell, Hard Money Saints, Big Wheel Stunt Show, JAR of Rain, Nolan Gerret Trio, and more.
  • Cost: Only pay admission to the game, tickets range from $5 - $30.

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sat, Aug 13 in Steilacoom.
  • Why Go: If you love garage sale shopping, the city of Seilacoom should be your only garage sale shopping destination this Saturday. The entire town will be basically one big garage sale! Start your treasure hunt at the multi-purpose tennis courts located next to Steilacoom Town Hall. Then, grab a Town of Steilacoom Map with all the Garage/Home locations all over town. Start early though, you'll have a lot of territory to cover!
  • Cost: Free.
