  • Why Go: Love garage sale shopping, but hate driving from sale to sale following those cardboard "garage sale" signs? You're in luck, because this Saturday the City of U.P. is holding its "Junk in Your Trunk" event. You'll only need to type one address in that GPS of yours to get your garage sale fix, Narrows Plaza Bowl. Come and browse nick-nack after nick-nack and hopefully walk away with a treasure.
  • Pricing: Admission is free. For $25 you can purchase two parking spots to sell your used and new items from.


  • Where/When: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Sat, May 21 at Java Fusion in Tacoma.
  • Why Go: If your looking for live music this weekend, you won't have to go very far to see it. Brian Sonneman will be performing at Java Fusion in Tacoma this Saturday night. Never heard of Brian Sonneman? Sample a few song from his Myspace page.

  • Why Go: In need of a good deed to round out your weekend? Try donating blood this Saturday at the Safeway Blood Drive in U.P. Your donation will help support local hospitals as well as the local community.

  • Why Go: Here's your chance to meet local author, Claire Dederer. Join Dederer as she discusses her new book, Poser: My Life in Twenty-Three Yoga Poses. Be sure to stick around after the discussion and get your books signed.

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat, May 21 at the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum in Tacoma.
  • Why Go: Step back in time, to the mid-1800s, as the royal subjects of Fort Nisqually celebrate  the birthday of her majesty, Queen Victoria with the firing of cannons, volleys of muskets and birthday toasts. 
  • Pricing: $6 adults, $5 seniors/students, $4 children (13-17 ), $3 children (4-12).
