  • Why Go: Attention bird watchers! The famous prints of John James Audubon's Birds of America series are now on display at Lakewold Gardens through Sun, May 1. The displayed vintage prints are part of Toni and Jerry Gibbs' private Birds of America collection. In addition to the display, Lakewold Gardens will host a special presentation by the Gibbs’ and the Tahoma Audubon Society on Sunday 1:30 p.m. This casual presentation will include information on the print collection, in addition to basic bird watching techniques.

While you're shoping from a variety of local vendors be sure to check out the beautiful displays of our state and city's official flower, the Rhododendron. Bought more plants then you can carry back to your car? No worries, the local boy scouts will be on-site to help load up your haul.

  • Why Go: Looking for some new ways keep your home green? Stop by the Enviro Fair at Homestead park this Saturday. The fair will host a veriety of earth friendly exhibits covering topics like composting, worm bins, recycling, mason bee shelters, and more. It's also, all taking place just a short walk away from the U.P. Spring Flower and Plant Sale.

  • Why Go: Will you and your family be ready in the event of a natural disaster? On Saturday, visit the Lowes in Lakewood and ensure you're prepared for the worst. There will be booths, demonstrations and exhibits about helping keep you safe when a disaster strikes.

  • Why Go: If you're driving down Steilacoom Boulevard this weekend and notice a huge battle taking place in the park, DON'T PANIC. It's just a Civil War reenactment. The Battle of Ft. Steilacoom will honor those who fought or lived during the American Civil War. Here's a list of scheduled events, the actual battles take place at 2 p.m. both days.
