Unleaded-Gas Prices Around Region Fall Below $3.50 a Gallon

Trio of Tacoma stations hit what very well could be considered a bargain rate, considering how much a gallon cost a few months ago.

The days of $2 gas are long gone, but right now, you can fill up your car for less than $3.50 a gallon at several Tacoma-area gas stations.

According to TacomaGasPrices.com, the ARCO at Puyallup Avenue and Portland Avenue has gas priced at $3.45 a gallon. The Shell stations at Portland Avenue and 28th Street and Pioneer Way East and River Road were pricing a gallon at $3.48 and $3.49, respectively.

A gallon of unleaded gas at the Tacoma Costco is $3.50.

In University Place, the ARCO on Bridgeport Way and 27th Street West is selling gas for $3.57 a gallon, and it is $3.79 a gallon at the Shell on Bridgeport Way and 40th Street West.

Some gas stations have a lower price for those paying with cash, which could mean lower than $3.50 there, too.

Average prices in Tacoma were $3.662 a gallon on Monday, which is almost four cents less than it was last week and 11.5 cents lower than in October.

Prices appear to be headed for their traditional December lows.

Although gas prices are down from earlier this fall – not to mention the brief foray higher than $4 in May – the average price of a gallon was only $3.077 last November, according to the website.
