Apple's Steve Jobs Dead At 56

Company co-founder had been battling pancreatic cancer.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. Jobs resigned from his CEO position in August. He was 56.

The company posted the following message on its website:

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve has lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."

Reacting to Jobs' death, local resident Helen Harrison wrote on University Place Patch's Facebook page: "So, so sad."
