Continuing to CRUSH IT!

I recently read an article written by a mother who lost her child to cancer.  She wrote of "awareness" doing nothing for the children who have cancer, but reframed the context into people doing "action" in this month.  It was brilliant.  And it hit home.  Since my last posting, the NFL responded and indicated that they could not support a GO GOLD campaign. I also recently read that the petition to light the White House gold in September was declined.  It is incredibly frustrating to read this when in the past, headlines in October shout, "Pretty in Pink" as the White House lit up pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Breast cancer is okay, ALL childhood cancers are not......that is what this tells me.
In the meantime, gold laces can be seen on kid's shoes on the soccer field, especially those in the Fircrest Rec Soccer League where our son plays.  Good on all of them who were willing to do what the NFL and the White House would not:  ACTION to bring AWARENESS.
I have received so many "wrist shots" as the CRUSH IT! bands continue to go out and include the latest collage.  I will have this image made into a poster so that Tommy knows people stand with him in solidarity as he took on the most formidable opponent in his young life to date and CRUSHED IT!  He is 17 months cancer free!
