Pastor's Corner: The Loser

This Palm Sunday, we study the story of a loser who receives God's justice, Patch blogger writes.

The loser story is one of hope. It is the big story also of justice, and by that I mean that the Law will be fairly and equally applied.

The loser story though, applies to God’s Law, more than any man-made law. The truth is that the loser, by definition is the one who made little or no effort, and is bearing the fruit of that little or no effort. Justice from God’s stand point means that His law will be equally applied to all. It starts with the concept that failure to obey results in punishment.

God’s justice is simple: “break His rules - pay the penalty”. He doesn’t go after the press or hire a lawyer. He never makes a mistake and punishes an innocent man. He tells everyone who is willing to check it out exactly what they have done wrong – He put it in His best-selling book.

God says “the wages of sin (or failure to obey) is death.” Romans 3:23. Then He says, “But the free gift of God, is eternal life in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:23 And to make that possible, Jesus came up the dirt road from Bethany one afternoon, got on a donkey, and road into Jerusalem to the wide acclaim of most of the people. He came to pay the penalty or price, for a bunch of us who were losers because of our sins.

This Palm Sunday, we study the story of a loser who receives God’s justice. I am a loser. So are you. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the story.
