Friends of Homestead Park Play Tour Guide

What a gorgeous weekend it was to show off our city's beauty, with Homestead Park Rhododendron Gardens taking center stage!

What perfect timing for the perfect weather!

On Saturday, May 4th, a bus tour of American Rhododendron Society National Convention attendees visited Homestead Park and her Rhododendron Gardens. Several Friends of Homestead Park members were on hand to greet them with complimentary snacks, beverages, and maps of the park. The group's photo gifts were also available for purchase as a fund raising effort. "Friends" Dr. Gary Becker, Lorna Smith, Karen Schwartz and Mayor Ken Grassi were on hand to answer questions and to assist Christie Anderson and Elmer Smith with clean up after the tour moved on to it's next destination, Lakewold Gardens.

The tour consisted of ARS members from neighboring British Columbia, Canda, California, Oregon and as far east as Massachusetts. When asked, those on the garden tour had high praise for Homestead Park and all it's beauty, with many saying how impressive the gardens are. Check out the uploaded photos of this mini event.

Along with thanks to those who helped, a special thank you goes out to ARS Peninsula Chapter member, Marlene Buffington, for helping with last minute park touch ups and with snack donations. Her efforts helped to put the park in a positive light, along with all the sunshine to do so!
