Streamlined Admissions and Financial Case Management

Administrator Chris Miller announces the appointment of Nick Maiuri to the newly created position of Director of Admissions and Public Relations.  He now leads the University Place Care Center team responsible for admissions, financial case management, and public relations with the health care community including networking and outreach with referring providers.  

Maiuri is well-known and highly regarded.  Since 2011, he had previously been in social services for long-term care residents at University Place Care Center and transitioned into providing discharge planning for short-stay and residents admitted for rehabilitation. He has a genuine interest and commitment to working with aging adults and states that he is “excited to help facilitate and communicate the excellent care that is provided at UPCC.” 

Nick Maiuri hails from Walla Walla and is a 2002 graduate of the University of Puget Sound where he earned a B.A. degree in Psychology. He has exceptional people skills developed over years of working with people of all ages.  

He was recognized as Outstanding Employee for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services - Individual Performance Award.  He is an avid golfer and swimmer, and enjoys many facets of the great outdoors.Relationship-building with referring physicians, care managers, hospital discharge planners, and social workers ensures seamless delivery of health care services to patients prior to admission, during their stay, and is critically important during the first 30 days post-discharge in a concerted effort to address any issues that may arise and avoid readmission.  

The evolving requirements of the health care industry especially as they pertain to skilled nursing and rehabilitation coalesced in the decision to reorganize key staffing at University Place Care Center (UPCC). The new position has been created to handle inquiries, admissions, and financial case management.  In making these changes, UPCC has demonstrated that it has the alacrity and adaptability to become the pacesetter for the health care industry with implementation of the complex changes that are being rolled out.

Certified Wound Care nursing, long-term care, skilled nursing, rehab by Consonus including OT/PT/SLT are just highlights of what is available.  

The OmniVR system by ACP (Accelerated Care Plus) is the world’s first virtual rehabilitation system designed specifically for geriatric patients and others with complex medical conditions; OmniVR can be incorporated into a patient’s care plan.  Advanced care combining technology and the best trained and experienced care team are available at UPCC.  

Later this summer, the Oasis Spa will open and provide residents and their family members massage and spa services, acupuncture, and nail care.  

Respite stays and hospice care are also options at University Place Care Center.

For 21 years, University Place Care Center, 5520 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98467 has been owned and operated by Soundcare, Inc., which has corporate headquarters in University Place; the company has more than 40 years in the delivery of senior living care services.  Bridgeport Place Assisted Living is located nearby to UPCC and is also owned and operated by Soundcare, Inc.  The company has two other skilled nursing facilities (SNFs):  Nisqually Valley Care Center, in McKenna, and Messenger House Care Center, on Bainbridge Island.
