Women entrepreneurs in University Place discuss balancing home and work and the strength of community empowerment in the latest episode of Business in UP, airing now on UP-TV.

What does it take to be a successful female business owner in University Place?

That's the topic of the latest episode of Business is UP, airing now on UP-TV. In it, Mariza Craig, assistant city manager for Community and Economic Development, talks with the female businesses owners of Source Yoga and Menagerie Maid Pet Sitting about balancing family life and career. Craig also discusses available resources for local businesswomen with representatives from the Puget Sound Business Center, Executive Women's International and Women's Resources, Inc.

Linda Jadwin from the Puget Sound Business Center said that women over 55 are the fastest-growing demographic for new small businesses in the UP area.

All of the local women agreed that networking with other business owners is important, as is a strong personal network to lean on for support.

"The top challenges women entrepreneurs face involve building your team. If you're going to start a business, you need your "pillars" for support," said Rachael Costner from Women’s Resource Inc.
