VIEWFINDER: Boathouse 19 Opens Near University Place

Patch user Dan was there for the grand opening at the Tacoma Narrows Marina.

University Place has a new waterfront dining option now that Boathouse 19 is open at the Tacoma Narrows Marina.

The restaurant officially opened today, and Patch user Dan provided these shots. (Thanks Dan).

For those who haven't visited, the restaurant "is approximately 4,500-square-feet and  seats about 160 in the dining room and an additional 75 out on the deck. The theme of the menu for Boathouse 19 is regional American food, drawing from the Northwest, Midwest, South and East Coast."

Boathouse 19 is located at 9001 S. 19th St.

Looks like I have a new spot to take the other Patch editors when we have our weekly meeting in University Place :)

Um, yeah, guess who's coming to that meeting? ;)

Brent, I thought the Boathouse was in Tacoma not UP. Which means our great city doesn't get any revenue from it but UP residents can cross the street for some good eats! Barbara

Is this why the chicken crossed the road...???
Christie Anderson July 04, 2012 at 02:05 PM
You're right Barbara....it is in Tacoma.....and yes, Tacoma would get the tax revenue.
Brent Champaco July 05, 2012 at 04:28 PM
Exactly, Barbara :)

All may not be lost for our cash strapped city! Even though they are not located in UP, perhaps Pier 19 would be willing to pay the University Place Traffic Impact Fee just as businesses on the Fircrest side of Mildred agreed to earlier this year. If not, UP could level the revenue generating playing field by errecting a toll booth at the West end of 19th, just before the entrance to the Pier 19 parking. :) Howard

LOL @ toll booth on West 19th!
Howard and Barbara Lee July 06, 2012 at 05:36 AM
Sorry Chris, still working out the glitches but "GoodToGo" hasn't shown any interest into linking up with the UP 19th Street Toll Booth, so I am now seeing if "DineOut" card might like to partner up with UP in this endevour. Howard

Hey Howard I'm not sure you should encourage them. lol If the city really wanted to improve tax revenue they would open up the gravel parking lot by the Frog N Kiwi so poor Mark and Kelly can make some money. IMHO

UP city could also make more money on sales tax if they would allow a gas station on the lot across from Fred Meyer at 67th Ave and Bridgeport Way. Irene Potter
