TostaCaffe Closes Its Doors

Over the last six years, the coffee shop off 40th Street West built a loyal following, but the owner says it became too difficult.

After alert Patch user Β asked what happened to the mom-and-pop coffee shop at the intersection of 40th Street and Bridgeport Way West, we contacted owner .

"We had to close," she wrote. "Several reasons - mostly just too few customers, supplies going up, min. wage went up, too many new regulations to trip over, never have made any money in coffee, and just physically and fiscally cannot continue at a loss."

"Love UP, love the customers - just had to go."

TostaCaffe opened in August 2005. It became a popular daily routine for locals because of its coffee, and even more for its customer service from Dimock and crew.

"It's not just a matter of drinks," Dimock told Patch in December. "I've been with them through births and deaths. I've seen children grow up before my eyes."
