Tacoma Menchie’s Now Open; Ribbon Cutting Set for Saturday

The frozen yogurt shop on South Mildred Street opened on Tuesday and will be offering special deals after Saturday’s grand opening.

Pierce County’s third Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt location opened its doors on Tuesday.

The self-serve frozen yogurt shop at James Center Plaza on South Mildred Street across from Tacoma Community College will be celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.

The store will be giving away free yogurt between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. that day, said owner Sadie Whitley.

Other grand opening deals include discounts and free giveaways through Friday March 8.

Menchie’s offers more than 26 different toppings and charges by the weight.

The California-based company gets its milk from cows in California that have not been treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST). It also serves kosher, no-sugar, sorbet and low fat options.

The other two Menchie’s in Pierce County are located in Gig Harbor and Puyallup.
