POLL: What's Your Debit Card Worth to You?

If you're a Bank of America or a Wells Fargo customer in University Place, you may soon be paying to use your debit card.

I used to harass my now-73-year-old dad for always complaining that nothing comes free these days.

His elderly outrage almost boiled over when he realized that we had to pay for stuff like street parking, airplane baggage and the like. "You can't get nothin' for free these days," he still grumbles.

When it comes to paying fees, my dad's not just old school - he's old schoolroom on Hood Canal.

That's why I can't wait to see his reaction to news that Bank of America will soon start charging $5 a month for its customers to use their debit cards, and that Wells Fargo will soon be following suit. Marci Baker, a contributor on Gig Harbor Patch, posted a story today.

Undoubtedly, UP users will get be hit with fees, just like the rest of America. So I posted the following poll regarding these new fees, and I ask that you vote to let Patch know your general feeling.

We already know what my dad thinks. This time, though, I tend to agree.

Seems like nothing comes for free these days.
