POLL: LeMay - America's Car Museum's Grand Opening Scheduled for June 2

The 165,000-square-foot facility next to the Tacoma Dome will offer a full slate of opening weekend activities.

The center of the automotive world will shift from Detroit to Tacoma in June.

LeMay - America's Car Museum, the large structure immediately south of the Tacoma Dome, is scheduled to hold its grand opening June 2. Many of us have spotted the museum from the highway and have wondered, "What's that going in there?"

That's like announcing Graceland's opening to Elvis fans, only the fans are instead classic car buffs and gear heads. LeMay's opening has been highlighted by news organizations across the country.

In January, USA Today included LeMay on its list eight big openings across the country.

In addition to the 500 or so cars that will be on display, including many from the record-breaking LeMay collection, the museum will feature a collector car center and a 3.5-acre show field.

So we put the question to you, University Place Patch users.

I love taking photos of classic and vintage cars. They just seem to be art on wheels to me. The idea of a museum in Tacoma was very cool. It is unfortunate the car museum's architecture looks like something out of an original Star Trek episode, lol. :-p

Hi everyone, For some reason, the original poll posted with this story was deleted. At the time, there were about 50 votes, and all but three were in favor of the new museum. I've posted a new poll, so we will see if LeMay's favorable trend continues. Sorry for the mix-up and thanks!
