Breath of Fresh Air at Narrows Plaza Bowl

New air conditioners are being installed this week at Narrows Plaza Bowl and the building recently got a fresh coat of paint.

If you’ve seen cranes swinging large boxes above Narrows Plaza Bowl this week, you caught a glimpse of the new air conditioner units.

The bowling alley on Mildred St. West in University Place is in the process of installing three new air conditioner/heating units on top of the building.

Two of the Trane units weigh 7.5 tons and their “big brother” weighs 20 tons. It's a $60,000 investment, said Mary Ann Greenfield from Narrows. They replace the original three units of identical size that were installed about 30 years old ago.

“These state-of-the-art units are highly energy efficient and environmentally responsible systems,” said Greenfield. “Based on Trane’s motto 'It’s hard to stop a Trane,' they expect these units to be heating and cooling the Narrows Plaza Bowl for another 30 years."

Narrows Plaza also got a fresh coat of paint this fall and there are a few more upgrades planned over the next few years.

"The owners, management and staff at Narrows have a strong continuing commitment to support University Place and the surrounding communities," said Greenfield.
