Longshore Job Lottery Winners Chosen

Out of thousands who applied, 226 people have been selected to be longshore workers at the Port of Tacoma.

More than 15,000 people applied for over 200 longshore positions at the Port of Tacoma in April and the job lotto winners have been chosen.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 23 and the Pacific Maritime Association have posted the winners online, who must now complete a background check and training before hiring.

Visit the PMA and Longshore Local 23 websites to see the winners.

Longshore work is competitive and well-compensated. While these entry-level positions can be seen as more of a "foot in the door" than an immediate payoff, "unidentified casuals" can advance to some of the most profitable positions in shoreline industry.
