Lakewood Farmers Market Has At Least One University Place Market Refugee

Nancy Wigley of the South Sound used to work the University Place Farmers Market until it was cut to make way for Town Center. Today, she returned to the South Sound.

Nancy Wigley built a strong following in University Place.

The Centralia woman and owner of Country Classics Farm - which offers everything from fresh produce to baked goods to antique jewelry - used to travel and set up shop at the community's former farmers market regularly during the summer.

At least that was the case until the farmers market ceased, as UP needed its location along Bridgeport Way West to make way for its Town Center project.

Wigley says she still enjoyed working the South Sound, which is why she jumped at the chance to work the Lakewood Farmers Market. It opened today outside Lakewood City Hall.

Well, maybe she'll get the chance to return to University Place.
