What does a leisurely Saturday morning look like to you? Sleeping in? Sipping coffee and catching up on the news? Relaxing and devouring an enormous cinnamon roll?
For the folks at Fircrest’s Innovative Fitness, leisure is getting prepared to host a rockin’ fitness boot camp at the that gets hearts a thumpin’, muscles a pumpin’ and feet a-movin.’
Held every Saturday morning at 7:20 a.m., Innovative Fitness invites you to join them for an outside workout like no other. These workouts are designed to give you a taste of strengthening, flexibility, core exercises and more in a challenging, fun, and positive “boot camp” style atmosphere.
Even the cement structures in the get in on the act.
Participants use bands for some of the exercise and these bands are literally wrapped around the structures to offer resistance and tension. Talk about using your environment.
And speaking of environment, working out in the outdoors with spectacular Chambers Bay as a backdrop? Sign me up.
So, how did this unique program get started?
“We wanted to offer this program as a way for folks to try it out to see how they like it,” said Jesse Ewell, manager of Innovative Fitness.
Apparently, a lot of folks like it. According to Ewell, there are typically 40 to 50 participants at a session.
However, being outdoors could offer its challenges. Like our weather. Eventually, this amazing and sunny weather is bound to come to an end. So what then? Ewell remains optimistic.
“We are going to keep coming here as long as the weather holds out. After that, we’ll find somewhere close to have it inside.” Problem solved.
