The vision of an Indoor Skate Park & Education Center (part 2 of 4)

Alchemy Indoor Skate Park & Education Center (AISPEC)

Skate Lessons and Mentors:

It is a central conviction of AISPEC that skateboarding is uniquely-suited to reach out to and engage at-risk youth. Skateboarding is an exceptional conduit for building resiliency, creativity, persistence, athleticism, and a unique understanding of city space. As such, promoting confidence, creativity, enjoyment, and safety in skateboarding is central to the mission of this organization. AISPEC also recognizes the incredible potential of mentorship to promote positive outcomes in the lives of youth. AISPEC’s skate lessons and mentors program capitalizes on the importance of both skateboarding and mentorship, as it focuses on empowering older, or more experienced members to act as skate mentors for younger, or less experienced members. This program will allow both mentors and mentees to simultaneously develop confidence, self-worth, technical skill, creativity, and enjoyment in skateboarding, as both an art and a sport. Additionally, this program will encourage socialization and put an emphasis on skatepark etiquette and basic safety rules. Finally, this program will help provide skateboarding youth with the support network and positive role models that many lack.
