'Tis the season to be jolly, right?

What about getting our toes tapping, fingers snapping, hands clapping, and kicking back to enjoy the sounds of holiday music?

Tacoma Musical Playhouse (Tacoma)

Why here: Join the Tacoma Musical Playhouse (TMP) on December 14th for A Big Band Christmas featuring the Swing Reunion Orchestra. TMP has a long history of putting on grand performances and showcasing exquisite musicianship. Plus, all the seats in the house are placed nicely for terrific listening and viewing. The Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, Pantages Theater (Tacoma)

Why here: The Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, along with the Tacoma Youth Chorus and two featured vocal performers, usher in the holiday with Sounds of the Season. This yearly program will offer up classic stylings all the way to smoky jazz renditions of your holiday favorites. Set in the historic Pantages Theater in downtown Tacoma, this show is sure to please. See link above for ticket prices and more information.

Key Center Holiday Concert (Lakebay, Key Center Library)

Why here: Travel to the beautiful Key Peninsula to hear the holiday musical sound of the distinguished and exquisite Seattle ensemble choir, Madrigalia. The Key Center Library plays host to this terrific free event. Non-perishable food donations for the Key Peninsula Food Bank are welcome. Click on the link above for more details.

When: Saturday, Dec. 3, 2 PM, free

A Victorian Country Christmas (Puyallup, Puyallup Fair and Events Center)

Why here: Talk about holiday music--this terrific event boasts holiday music galore! With two theaters, there are musical offerings that range from the traditional, to country western, to hip hop (and so much more). Even YOU can be a part of the festivities and join in the Christmas Karaoke Contest! Please click on the link above to see everything this festival has to offer. Parking is free and all musical shows are free with admission.

When: Wednesday through Sunday, Nov. 30 to Dec. 4, 10 AM to 9 PM Wed. through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM Sunday, Adults $10, Seniors (62+) and Students (6-18) $8, Military (with ID) $7, and kids 5 and under are free.

Gig Harbor Civic Orchestra (Gig Harbor)

Why here: This terrific orchestra is playing a free concert of Christmas classics at Peninsula High School, just before Christmas. Take in the terrific sounds of a long time local group in our own backyard. Please see the link above for more information about the orchestra and the event.
