  • Why Go: Get in the holiday spirit this Veteran’s Day weekend with this annual sale that includes over 40 handmade quilts, holiday decor, Christmas ornaments, Thanksgiving decor, vintage linens, vintage and modern jewelry, kitchen items, baby items, fashion accessories and more. There will also be holiday baked items including specialty breads, cookies, jams, jellies and candy available for purchase.

  • Why Go: Come to the Tacoma Dome this weekend for the 2011 Gem Faire. Browse from over 70 exhibitors offering all your favorite gems, jewelry, crystals, beads, fossils, minerals and more. Classes and demonstrations will be going on throughout the weekend, as well as chances to win hourly door prizes.
  • Pricing: $7 for a weekend pass, children under 12 get in free.

 

  • Why Go: Join the Comedy Underground for the second preliminary round of the 32nd Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition. This elimination-style contest will feature 15 comics with just five of them advancing to the semi-finals. Check out our for a complete list of the competing comics.
  • Pricing: $15.

 

  • Why Go: Come and learn about the uniforms and weapons of soldiers who served at Fort Steilacoom during this illustrated talk lead by Alan Archambault. Alan is a well known military artist, historian and author. He was the Curator at the Fort Lewis Military Museum and most recently, until his retirement, was the supervisory curator over fourteen Army Museums.
  • Pricing:Admission is free. Donations are accepted.

 

  • Why Go: Commemorate this Veteran’s Day by reading aloud recollections written by or about military service members. Come and listen or recount your own short personal experience related to the American armed forces or memories of someone in military service.
  • Pricing: $8. Free museum admission for active duty/retired military and their families.
