Woofstock 2011 Adoption & Music Festival

On Saturday, August 6, 2011, Dugan Foundation will present the fifth annual Woofstock, one part fantastic entertainment and one hundred parts great pets that need a home. It is free for the whole family and a whole lot of fun.  Last year over 121 animals found homes at Woofstock in six hours!

Amongst the trees and grass at beautiful Todd Field at the University of Puget Sound, spread out over 25 booths, over one hundred animals are ready to play and meet the family.  To make sure you get the right fit, there are fenced meet and greet areas where the entire family (including pets) can meet and play with adoptable animals.  There are dogs, cats and ferrets, spending the day with a constant cycle of family friendly entertainment on stage and off, plus pet related shopping and services.

The local music line up this year is surpassing that of any year before.  Erina McGann, Maya & Matt), Gina Belliveau and Automatic Theory create a great mix of indie folk, Celtic,  acoustic pop and alternative rock. All of the musicians give their time for the cause – the cause, finding homes for as many homeless animals as we can.

This year’s event celebrates tremendous support and events from the community. City Dog Magazine, a Seattle based magazine with national coverage, is hosting a search for the perfect dog face to adorn the cover of the magazine.   The contest begins at 1:30 pm.  Entry fee is $10 and all proceeds go to the Woofstock grant program.  In addition, we’re featuring WOOFD2, Disk Dog Demonstration, Dachshund Races, doggy massage, kid’s activities and more!

Woofstock ’11 is aimed at bringing people together to have a great time and to collaborate in support of developing Washington State into a sustainable, no-kill community,” said Jim Dugan, President of the event’s presenting organization, Dugan Foundation. “We encourage everyone, including pets, to come and experience the most enjoyable August day for families, and to make it the luckiest day in an adopted animal’s life!
