Kelly Coyne and Erik Knutzen, the team behind the popular DIY blog Root Simple, will be speaking about living a homemade life at University Place-Pierce County Library on May 2, at 7pm.
Kelly and Erik will be in town to celebrate the release of their new book, MAKING IT: Radical Home Ec for a Post-Consumer World. MAKING IT is a "practical toolbox for transforming ideas into action", complete with projects and activities done in the home, in the garden, and out in the street. These post-consumer living activities--everything from making laundry soap to becoming a backyard beekeeper--are fun, inexpensive, and eminently doable. With MAKING IT, Kelly and Erik take back home ec and bring a sense of adventure to the most ordinary activities around the house, reshaping domestic chores into part of a more creative, sensible, and sustainable way of life.
