Battle In The Orchard 2013 Seeking Local Participants!

University Place's third annual Battle of the Bands is seeking musical acts to perform in the Battle in the Orchard this June.

This year’s Battle in the Orchard is quickly approaching and organizers are looking for musical acts!

This competition is open to musically inclined teens between the ages of 13-21.

The Initial Talent Round will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at building A-3 in University Place’s City Hall. The Final Round will be held on Thursday, June 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Curran Apple Orchard Park. Winners will get to play at the U.P. Festival in August!

If you do not wish to audition in person or cannot make it, you can enter online.

Initial Talent Round

  • Please come prepared to play two songs (covers or originals). Please bring a lyric sheet for each song you intend to perform. If you enter online, please send in a two song demo (covers or originals) as either .mp3, .mp4, .aac, or .wav files, along with a lyric sheet for each song submitted.
  • Sound equipment (mics, mic stands, amps, etc.) and a sound engineer will be provided but please bring your own instruments (including a drum kit) and amps for each of your instruments.
  • A small panel of judges will assess each performance based upon: 1) lyrical content, 2) musical content, 3) appropriate lyrics/name/etc., and 4) overall creativity and uniqueness.
3 bands will be selected to move on to the Final Round. Bands will be notified by either phone or email no more than one week following the Initial Talent Round.

If you are interested in auditioning, promoting, judging, and/or volunteering at this year’s event, please email Kayla Stewart as soon as possible at Kayla@battleintheorchard.com.
