VIDEO: Actor Josh Lucas Talks Film Festival, Career and Fatherhood

Actor Josh Lucas sat down with local reporters before kicking off the Gig Harbor Film Festival on Thursday.

Hollywood star Josh Lucas returned home to the Pacific Northwest on Thursday to help kick off the fifth annual Gig Harbor Film Festival.

The 41-year-old actor, who graduated from Gig Harbor High School in 1989, was in town for the screening of his starring role film, Red Dog, at Galaxy Theatre.

Joined by his wife Jessica and newborn son Noah, Lucas talked about his career, fatherhood and the important of local film festivals.

“It brings films that wouldn’t be seen otherwise into people’s experience,” he said. "They get to come to this theatre in Gig Harbor and watch a movie that otherwise wouldn’t be seen on a big screen, wouldn't be seen with a group of people and often times they would have never heard about it or never found it."

After the screening, Lucas met up with guests at Canterwood Golf & Country Club, where he received “The Reel Magic Award”. The award is given out to those who give back to the community.

The Gig Harbor Film Festival is available to the public through Sunday, Oct. 21. Click here for more information.
