With Gas Prices "Crashing" Where's University Place's Cheapest Gas?

U.S. gas prices have dropped 46 cents a gallon over the past two months. Right now, gas is as low as $3.33 per gallon in University Place.

Gas prices in the United States have dropped by 10 cents in the last three weeks, according to the Lundberg Survey of fuel prices, which was released Sunday.

The Associated Press reports that the average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.38.

In University Place, the cheapest place to fill up your tank Monday was Jackson's Food Store at 5610 Orchard St. W., where you could buy regular gas for $3.33 per gallon.

Trilby Lunberg, publisher of the Lunberg Survey, told CNN the drop in prices was due to problems at refineries being resolved, as well as a seasonal drop in demand for gasoline.

The CNN report notes that the cost of gas is still -- on average -- 8 cents higher than this time last year.
