Several local cub scouts attended day camp three days this past week. The cub packs from University Place were pack 266 and pack 289, and others packs also joined in the day camp.

Key to Awesomeness:  The cub scouts, along with dedicated leaders, learned some new skills this week. They spent each day in break-out sessions learning things such as first aid, how to start a fire, archery and knot-tying. These classes are the stepping stones to learning true survival skills for the cub scouts.

They also participated in boat-building, slit-making and cooking over a fire. They planted seeds in a homemade terrarium and finshed the week playing water games.

There were approximately 20 boys from University Place — along with 75 other youth at the camp. It's lead by the scout leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but it was open to all cub scouts.

The final day was spent learning, as well as water activities, including a sponge race, an obstacle course and a water ballon toss. The sun came out after the brief summer rainshower, allowing the boys to enjoy the last hurrah of camp.

Accomplishments:Wolves, Bears and Webelos all earned achievements and electives, which are individual achievements in each seperate level of cub scouts. The week was specially marked when the cubs performed songs, cheers and the Haka for their parents, family and friends at the end of the last day.
