UP Bus Riders See Changes to Pierce Transit Routes

Pierce Transit introduced its bus service changes on Sunday, June 9.

Due to transit operator attrition, Pierce Transit has cut numerous services,  including those near University Place, in order to keep the buses moving throughout the system.

"Pierce Transit continues its commitment to finding everyday efficiencies and seeking new revenues in order to preserve as much service for our customers as possible with the resources available," according to the Pierce Transit website.

Route 10 
These Weekday trips are eliminated: the 7:13 p.m. and 8:16 p.m. trips from Pt. Defiance, and the 7:45 p.m. trip from TCC. Other Weekday morning trips from Pt. Defiance are modified. On Sundays, the 8:43 a.m. trip from Point Defiance and the 9:15 a.m. trip from TCC are eliminated.

Route 16 
Saturdays, the 7:36 p.m. trip from 10th & Commerce and the 8:15 p.m. trip from TCC are deleted. The 6:36 p.m. trip from 10th & Commerce now departs at 6:34 p.m.. Sundays, the 9:15 a.m. trip from TCC is deleted.

Route 28 
These trips are deleted: Weekdays, the 6:10 a.m. trip from 11th & Pacific and the 6:15 a.m. trip from TCC. Saturdays, the 7:20 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. trips from TCC, and the 7:45 a.m. trip from 11th & Pacific. On Sundays, the 9:20 a.m. trip from TCC and the 9:45 a.m. trip from 11th & Pacific are deleted.

Route 52 
Weekdays: the 6:15 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. trips from TCC are deleted. Saturdays, the 8:45 p.m. trip from TCC is deleted. Sundays, the 9:45 a.m. from Tacoma Mall TC is deleted. Other changes are made on trips to TCC. New departure times are made from Union and S 35th.

Route 57 
Weekdays, the 5:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. trips from the Tacoma Mall TC are eliminated; Saturday, the 7:58 p.m. trip from 10th & Commerce is eliminated.

Route 54 
Weekdays, the 6:11 p.m. and 7:39 p.m. trips from 56th & Portland are deleted. Sundays, the 8:43 a.m. from 56th & Portland and the 9:15 a.m. from Tacoma Mall TC trips are deleted.

Route 56 
Weekday deletions include the 6:15 a.m. trip from 72nd Street TC and the 6:45 a.m. trip from Tacoma Mall TC. Saturday trip deletions include the 7:15 p.m. from Tacoma Mall TC and the 7:45 p.m. from 72nd Street TC. Sunday deletions: the 8:15 a.m. from Tacoma Mall TC, and the 8:45 a.m. from 72nd Street TC.
