University Place Museum to Celebrate Grand Opening During Duck Daze

The University Place Historical Society will host its grand opening in Windmill Village on June 1, 2013 at 11:30 am, immediately following the Duck Daze parade.

Celebrate the grand opening of the University Place Museum in Windmill Village on June 1 at 11:30 am, immediately following the Duck Daze parade.

Located in Suite D2, Mayor Grassi will do the honors of the ribbon cutting, assisted by Ed Anderson, long time resident of University place and an endless advocate of having a museum here in University Place.

UP is one of the last cities in the state to open a museum. The Windmill Village location is easily accessed and will serve as a research and resource museum for our students and residents. The space is small and will feature rotating exhibits that depict our rich history.

First up for the opening is a Willits Brothers canoe on loan from the Eddon Boatworks in Gig Harbor. Come find out who the Willits Brothers were, where they lived and their importance to our city’s history.

The boat was previously owned by Dr. Nick  and Julie DiRi, longtime residents of University Place.
