Tree Lighting Ceremony to Top Off Fun-Filled Day On Dec. 3

Next weekend marks the official start to the season in University Place.

The official start to the holiday season is just around the corner in University Place. The city's annual Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3, at Windmill Village and Market Square.

Leading up to the 6:30 p.m. ceremony will be a day packed with holiday cheer, and of course, a jolly fellow in red:

Santa Paws Pet Photos, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Windmill Village, $10, benefits SUNDogs)

Silent Auction Fundraiser, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Sponsored by UPCSPR)

Get Local at Market Square, 2-7 p.m.

Santa arrives in a fire truck, 3 p.m.

“Santa Express” train rides, 3-6 p.m. ($3 charge)

Kids' bounce house, 3-6 p.m. ($3 charge)

Face painting/balloons, 3-6 p.m. (Free – sponsored by UPYC)

Kids' holiday crafts, 3-6 p.m. (Free – sponsored by UPYC)

(New) Clothing, Food, Toy Drive, 3-6 p.m. (Sponsored by U.P. Firefighters)

Photos with Santa, 3-6 p.m. ($4 charge – Benefits U.P. Kiwanis)

Hotdogs, pop, candy and popcorn, 3-6 p.m. (Sponsored by U.P. Kiwanis)

Holiday Entertainment at Market Square, 3:30-6:30 p.m.

Candelight parade to Market Square, 6:15 p.m.

Christmas tree lighting, 6:30 p.m.

Free Parking will be available in the garage under the Civic/ Library Building.
