Red Ribbon Bazaar

  • Where/When: Pierce College Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood; Saturday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Celebrating its 15th year, the bazaar features 65 vendors offering unique arts and crafts as well as other items perfect for holiday giving and enjoyment. Students will be providing gift wrapping, a bake sale and activities and Santa photos for children of all ages. There will be a silent auction of table top trees and gift baskets. Lunch available for purchase. 
  • Cost: Free

 

Fair Trade Christmas Market

  • Where/When: Bethany Presbyterian Church, 4420 N 41st St. in Tacoma; Sunday, Dec. 2, Noon to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Shop for the gifts that give twice at this annual fair trade market sponsored by Bethany Presbyterian Church. Vendors will have items hand made in Cambodia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Guatemala, Nepal, Jerusalem and The West Bank. All vendors pay a fair living wage to the artisans who make these unique crafts. All proceeds are redistributed to the participating vendors. Activities are available for children while you shop.
  • Cost: Free admission. (Cash and checks only.)

Decorate Gingerbread Houses

  • Where/When: University Place Library; Saturday, Dec. 1, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Make and decorate your own gingerbread house. All ages: under 6 with an adult. No registration required.
  • Cost: Free

 

University Place Christmas Tree Lighting

  • Where/When: University Place Library; Saturday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: City of University Place is hosting its annual Christmas Tree Lighting event at the Civic Building, where the University Place Library is located. Santa Claus arrives by fire truck at 3 p.m., and the tree lighting will be at 6 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
