The List: Five Indoor Places That Cure the Winter Blues

March has roared like a lion and continues to do so. Tired of freezing cold, howling winds, and gray skies? The List has your INDOOR answer to beckon spring.

If you are like me, the continued gray skies, wind, and those crazy rain/snow/sleet/hail combos have you wishing for spring more than ever before.

Well, I can't get the weather to behave, but The List can give you some great indoor ideas to try to grab some warmth, bright colors, and bright light to cure your  case of the wintertime blues and doldrums. Here we go.

 1. The Aquarium at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

Why here: It's toasty warm inside (particularly the shark and tropical fish exhibit) and looking at the colorful and exotic fish in this exhibit will remind you of tropical climes. Downstairs where the local sea life resides, will take you back to summertime pleasures in the greater Puget Sound: boating, fishing, and strolling along the waterways.

2. The W.W.  Seymour  Botantical Conservatory at Wright Park

Why here: Nothing makes me happier than looking at pretty plants and flavors and smelling fresh soil. This warm, pretty, and historic site is an easy stroll that will take your mind off of winter and motivate you for spring.

3. The Tacoma Art Museum

Why here: Surround yourself with bright colors, bright light, and art work reminiscent of all things spring (a little Chihuly anyone?). This place will keep you busy and entertained with wonderful displays while keeping you dry and happy.

4. The Museum of Glass

Why here: More Chihuly and wonder works of swirling colorful glass in the shapes of flowers and beach life. Aw....bliss. And there's the hot shop. No coat required here!

5. The Pierce County Library System

Why here: Why not? Grab some books on tropical locations around the world, disappear in a story of action, adventure, or romance on a deserted isle, or study maps and travelogues for your next escape (or dream escape). The library has it all.
