The List is ready for all things spring and nothing says spring more than beautiful plants. Break out the green thumb, the gardening tools, soil and follow The List to great local nurseries.

It's spring, and this time of means bringing new beauty to your yard to celebrate.

Where to begin? Sure, you can get plants, flowers, shrubs and trees at the big stores.

But you could also patronize some outstanding local nurseries that feature high quality products in a beautiful setting. Follow The List to find some local gems that will bring out your inner gardener:

Why Here: This small, but inviting neighborhood nursery is in our own backyard. This nursery boasts nice service, nice plants, and other goods for inside the home or outside in the garden.

 

2. Watson's Greenhouse and Nursery (Puyallup).

Why Here: This longtime nursery (since 1984) boasts over 30,000 square feet of plant heaven. This place has everything from trees to roses, annuals to perennials, and everything in between.

 

3. Rosedale Gardens (Gig Harbor).

Why Here; Rosedale Gardens has been providing service to area customers for 25 years. They have an outdoor gallery, tour garden, and landscaping materials.

 

4. Gardensphere (Tacoma).

Why Here: This organic gardening business is in Tacoma's beautiful Proctor District. They provide organic plants, soils and gardening goods.

 

5.  Portland Avenue Nursery (Tacoma).

Why Here: Portland Avenue Nursery is a local and longtime nursery and gardening center mainstay. Established in 1941 (yes, really!), Plants and trees are amongst their specialties. Check out their cedar furniture, too.

 

6. Wild Thyme Nursery (Tacoma)

Why Here: This nursery offers knowledgable staff and interesting varieties. Known for bonsai, Japanese maples, and other trees.
