Takeover, Junk In The Trunk Both Successes

UP Patch's perennial parks and recreation guru gives us an update on two major events this past week.

This past week was a busy one for fund raising for the recreation scholarship programs of .

Wednesday was a very successful , with the and helping to do the greeting, serving and hosting the event.  Thank you to Joe Stortini for providing his restaurant for this fund-raising event.

On Saturday, the second Junk /rummage sale was held in the parking lot of .  Many thanks to Mary Ann and Lee Greenfield, the managers of Narrow View Plaza Bowl, for hosting this event.  Jennifer Robinson, recreation supervisor and manager of the UP Senior/Community Center put this very successful event together.

The number of vendors this year was almost double over  last year.  There would have been many more if it hadn’t rained for two hours during the setup and first hour the “Trunk” was open.  Hopefully this event will grow into a city wide event where hundreds of folks are having spots to swap and get rid of their accumulated “stuff” that they no longer need.
