Should Duck Daze Offer More Food, or a Beer Garden Next Year?

Walking around Duck Daze on Saturday, I noticed more than one frustrated parent pull their kids out of the hot dog line.

"We aren't waiting in that long line just for hot dogs," I overheard one mom say to her middle-schooler.

She had a point - the hot dog line wrapped around the West Pierce Fire and Rescue back parking lot.

Meandering through the crowd of people on the hot day, we eventually made our way to Homestead Park, where a band was entertaining a small crowd.

"Where's the beer garden?" My friend asked. With the sun shining and a whole Saturday afternoon before us, a beer garden didn't sound too bad.

In my opinion, having more food and drink options available during Duck Daze would make the event more successful. I understand the permitting process can be long and complicated, but I saw many families and visitors leaving the event at the same time I did--for lunch.

Maybe if some taco trucks or food vendors circled the wagons and there was a beer and wine garden near the live music stage, people would have lingered to enjoy the sunny afternoon in Windmill Village.

Do you think Duck Daze and other community events in UP should have food carts, or a beer garden? Tell us in the comments.
