Public Works: Cirque Restrooms Won't Be Ready for UP Festival

Port-a-potties will be available to visitors of the UP Festival this Saturday. Construction of the permanent restrooms in Cirque Park is expected to begin mid-August, with completion by the fall.

Those in UP who have been following the developments at Cirque Park might remember a certain deadline--back in May, the city council approved the construction of permanent restrooms and a concession stand, with a proposed public debut at the UP Festival.

Unfortunately, certifications were held up at the state level, among other setbacks, so the deadline for the project was pushed back, said Public Works operations supervisor Debra Sage.

Groundbreaking on the prefabricated, "prison-grade" restrooms is scheduled to start August 15 with an open date in September.
