University Place will host Pierce County's largest military veterans appreciation event Nov. 3.
A community team of veterans and civilians will host the event called Operation Fun.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the parking lot of 2200 Mildred St. W, University Place.
It is free to veterans, service members and their families in support of the mission to end veteran suicide.
Operation Fun is intended to provide free fun and information on the services and benefits available to service members, veterans and their families. It will feature activities for all ages, entertainment, displays, food for purchase, resources and great information.
"This is an opportunity for the community to join forces to honor all veterans (active duty and past duty) for their sacrifice and to welcome them home," said Rod Wittmier, who's helping organize the event. "If we all do a little, it adds up to a lot and will make a difference in their lives."
Operation Fun team members are made up of veterans and civilians, individuals and business owners. Guests will receive a passport that, once stamped by visiting vendor booths, will allow their family to enjoy free bowling and other great activities, he said.
