"This is an opportunity for the community to join forces to honor all veterans (active duty and past duty) for their sacrifice and to welcome them home," said Rod Wittmier, who's helping organize the event. "If we all do a little, it adds up to a lot and will make a difference in their lives."

Wittmier, also an Army veteran, is the founder and program director of the National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide, a program of the Veterans Family Fund of America.

Operation Fun team members are made up of veterans and civilians, individuals and business owners. Guests will receive a passport that, once stamped by visiting vendor booths, will allow their family to enjoy free bowling and other great activities, he said.
