Patch Users Capture Images Of Steam Engine At Chambers Creek Properties

After we put out word that the SP 4449 would be making its way through Chambers Creek Properties, a few readers went to the site and took out their cameras.

Here's an understatement: trains are big in the South Sound.

When Patch put out the word that a famous steam engine - the Southern Pacific 4449 - would be making its way through Chambers Creek Properties as part of National Railway Historical Society's annual convention in Tacoma, our users responded.

Not only was the story a hit on our site and Facebook page, but it prompted a few Patch users to go to the properties and see SP 4449 for themselves.

"Thank you for alerting us to this train's passing through this morning," wrote user Irene Potter. "My dog and I watched it at Titlow, and I got photos to share with a friend in Pennsylvania who is a long-time rail buff."

User KJ shot a video of the train passing under the Chambers Creek Properties pedestrian bridge and posted it to YouTube. (Click on the video to watch it)

Thanks for the footage, KJ. And don't worry, it isn't too shaky.
