Grab & Go Kid's Planner, Feb. 16

Activities and events this weekend the kids are sure to love.

Looking for something to do with the kids (or teens) over the next week? Don't worry, Patch has got you covered. We've scoured the South Sound to bring you some of the best ideas for family time.

It will keep the kids busy, as well as keep mom and dad happy.

Here's a rundown of ideas:

When/Where: 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Thursdays at the Lakewood/Pierce County Library Branch.

Why Go: Toddlers get to sing songs, make crafts and interact with others in a preschool-type environment that prepares the both of you for the adventure of preschool.

Price: Free, appropriate for 6 years of age and younger. (Be advised to arrive a bit early as space is limited.)

 

Nature Alphabet

When/Where: 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Friday at the Tacoma Nature Center.

Why Go: Your preschooler can learn about nature through hands on activities, crafts and song.

Price: Ages 3-6 years, $6 per child.

 

Parent's Night Out

When/Where: 6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., every third Friday at Tacoma Children's Museum.

Why Go: Okay, okay. So this may not be an activity for you as a family together, but your kiddo will have a blast making art projects and munching on pizza, while you enjoy some "me" time.

Price: $25 per child/ addtl. $10 for siblings. Ages 3-10 years (child must be potty trained).

 

Go to the Movies!

When/Where: Times and will vary from theater to theater.

Why Go: Currently Disney's fairytale Tangled, 3D Gnomeo & Juliet and for you "Beliebers" Never say Never (also in 3D) are out in theater! There's a little something for everyone. Grab some popcorn and laugh with each other, or if you're viewing Bieber's film, squeal like a girl.  

Price: $6-$10, typically.

 

Hand's On Art Activity

When/Where: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.,  Sunday at the Museum of Glass.

Why Go: Every month the museum introduces a hand on art activity inspired by the current exhibit. All activities are age appropriate from preschool to grandparents.

Price: $12 per person/ includes admission into the gallery.

 

Introduction to Rock Climbing and Belaying

When/Where: Times vary at the Gig Harbor Family YMCA.

Why Go: Want to learn, with your teen, about rock climbing in a safe environment? This is the perfect way do so, and the staff at the YMCA is extremely helpful. Learn the safety systems of belaying, knot tying, climbing commands, and basic climbing skills through hands-on climbing activities.
