Grab and Go Kid's Planner, June 1

What's on the family agenda this weekend? If you said, "I don't know,"" don't worry. We've got your back. Here's a hint: It's a big weekend in University Place.

This weekend marks one of the biggest events on the University Place events calendar.

The Duck Daze Parade, an annual community tradition, takes place Saturday. It's free and loads of fun. And if you're in neighboring communities, don't worry. We have your back as well. Check it out:

When/Where: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., Saturday, starting at on 27th and Bridgeport Way West.

Why Go: Parades are the things that spring and summer are made of. Costumes, clowns, antique cars and community. Fun for the whole family. Not to mention the being held at Beyond the Beach from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. in celebration of the parade. There's also the Treasures In The Park community yard sale and the open house at West Pierce Fire & Rescue. Patch will be there too, and we'll have balloons and other prizes. Stop by and say hello!

Price: Free.

 

When/Where: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Friday at the Tacoma Children's Museum.

Why Go: The Tacoma Children's Museum has always proven to be a destination of fun activities that help build social and intellectual development in our toddlers and youth. And it's an easy way to spend some quality time, pre-nap.

Price:  Free.

 

When/Where: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., daily at Sehmel Homestead Park.

Why Go: This, in and of itself, is not an event. It's a time to get registered and set for a plethora of summer camps made available for summer afternoons. Space is limited so choosing an activity and getting psyched about it is a good activity for this weekend!

Price: Prices vary.

 

Music at LakeBridge Forza

When/Where: 7 p.m., Friday and 1:30 p.m., Sunday at LakeBridge Forza in Lakewood.

Why Go: Enjoy jazzing, funk saxophonist andto kick off the weekend and end the weekend with singer/songwriter with his Christian brand of rock. When it comes to it musical culture, it can be found with a cup of coffee.

Price: Free and open to all.

 

Faure's Requiem

When/Where: 7:30 p.m., Friday at the Tacoma Community College Auditorium (bldg. 3).

Why Go: Enjoy a collaborative concert featuring local talents, such as those like Stadium alum Troy Peters, performing pieces such as Mozart's Symphony No. 25 in G minor and other classics.

Price: Free (donations accepted).
