The expansion project is projected to temporarily add an estimated 400 workers at the peak of construction beginning in December.

"The ongoing expansion of the plan was the impetus for the project, as we expect increased construction traffic in the area," said Ryan Dooley, Pierce County Public Works and Utilities project manager. "We worked with the City of University Place to develop a good solution that will provide a long-term benefit to the community after the expansion project is complete in 2016."

Active Construction Inc. is the contractor. The construction contract cost is approximately $130,000.
