Annie Wright Gators Rock the You Go Girl Race

Thunderstorms couldn't dampen the spirit, drive and talent of Team Gator in Sunday's You Go Girl race, which benefits the Pierce County YWCA. Some 30 Annie Wright faculty, staff, parents, students, alumni and board members ran in the 10K and Half Marathon races, and our results were most impressive.

The 10K had 492 finishers, with an average time of 1:14:53. Upper School Social Studies Teacher Bridgette McGoldrick came in 2nd overall with an outstanding time of 45:29. She was closely followed by Upper School Spanish teacher Emily Stokes, who was 7th overall and 2nd in her division, Alumni Director Shannon Grant, who was 13th overall and 3rd in her division, and Day School alumnus Greg Howell, who was 17th overall and 1st in his division. Other strong finishers include Annie Wright parent Angela Bates and Assistant Director of Annual Fund and Events Alicia Hinckley, who were both third in their divisions, and Annie Wright parent Karen Donahue, who was 4th in her division. Special shoutout to 10-year-old Merryn Coumou who ran with her mom, nurse Paula, and came 8th in her division.

The Half Marathon had 321 finishers with an average time of 2:21:14. Library Media Specialist Joe Romano came 3rd, with a remarkable time of 1:34:14. He was closely followed by Middle School English and Social Studies teacher David Gardner, who was 6th, and Admissions Associate Trisha Fintel, who was 13th overall and 1st in her division. Shoutouts also to Head of Schools Christian Sullivan, who was 3rd in his division, and Upper School Red Tie Class of '14 student Aquene Kimmel, who was 2nd in her division.
