Lady Viks Lacrosse Fall To Klahowya On The Road

Kortney Hudak scored two goals, but Curtis was overpowered the whole game. With the loss, the Lady Viks dropped to .500 for the season.

Klahowya was simply too much for Curtis in girls lacrosse Friday. Here's the recap, courtesy of Washington State Lacrosse:

SILVERDALE – Jacky Hennegan scored five goals and commandeered 10 draw controls to lead Klahowya to its seventh win of the season with an 18 – 5 girls Division II high school lacrosse victory over Curtis at Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale.

A total of 10 Eagles found the net and goaltender Sheri McCarty tallied a season’s best performance, turning away 9 shots.  All results that pleased Klahowya coach Laurie Usher.

“We spread it around and had a settled a settled attack,” Usher said.  “Our goal was to start our plays with the goalkeeper and have a stronger transition in the midfield.  (McCarty) had her best game of the season in goal.  She was making quicker and better decision on her clears.”

Defensively, Klahowya dominated Curtis in the first half and just into the second, not allowing a Viking goal until Sloane Barton found the net at 22:49 of the second to make it 10 – 1. Kortney Hudak struck next for the Vikings as 22:49 and added her second of the night just 58 seconds later to make it 10 – 3 before the Eagles regained their footing.

Mercer Island downs Issaquah for 10th lax win, sole possession of first place

MERCER ISLAND – Connor Bernal scored 3 goals to give Mercer Island sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division with an 8 – 4 boys high school lacrosse win over rival Issaquah, Friday at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island.

With both Mercer Island and Issaquah entering the game tied for the lead in the Northeast Division, the Comcast-televised game had implications both in the playoff race and for bragging rights in Eastside lacrosse circles.

Mercer Island’s offense included 2 goals from Zach Stickney and solo-shots from Doug Mahony, Alex Rorem and Alex Robbs.
