Asian Buffet To Fill Former Blockbuster Site
The city says it has issued a building permit for the Fortune Place Buffet, but an opening date hasn't been announced.
University Place might have lost a place to rent DVD's, but it soon will be getting a spot to take in some great Asian cuisine.
Economic Development Director Mariza Craig confirmed to Patch that an Asian buffet will take over the former location of Blockbuster Video, located off Bridgeport Way West in the Albertsons shopping center.
Not that we needed much confirmation, seeing that the owners have displayed a banner announcing the upcoming restaurant on the street side of the building for weeks.
What isn't clear, however, is when the new restaurant will open. Craig said the city has approved a building permit for the restaurant, but improvements are still being made.
Patch has yet to discuss the future restaurant with the building's owner, Hogan Enterprises.
Some residents are eager to see a dining option in University Place, and they're curious as to what Fortune Palace will offer.
"I don't think it will be a traditional Chinese buffet," Craig said.

It sure would be nice to see an update on Kim's Teriyaki...They've been closed now for—gosh it seems like almost a year now...They had the best yaki in town and I loved the family atmosphere.

I agree, Marques. I'd love to see if Patch could find some info on Kim's.

Kim's Teriyaki is right next to the Walgreens off 27th and Bridgeport. They closed down after a bad fire less than a year ago. I thought they would have opened by now.
